Metro
多くのモビールはオブジェクトを空中に吊るすことにその本質があります。 そのオブジェクトが揺れることで、空間に揺らぎを与え時間をゆっくり感じさせる。 そのことからモビールは吊り糸は見えないことが重視されがちですが、今回私はその「糸」に着目することにした。 広い空間で軽やかな空気感をデザインしたいと思い、美しい日本の伝統的な「組紐」を色鮮やかに構成し、 それらがゆっくりと揺れることで心が軽くなることを目指しました。 色鮮やかな糸が連結する様は、都市部の地下鉄(Metro)を想起させたためタイトルを安直にMetroとしました。
The essence of many mobiles lies in hanging objects in the air.
The swaying of the object gives the space a shimmering effect and a slow sense of time. Because of this, mobiles tend to emphasize that the hanging threads are invisible, but this time I decided to focus on the “threads” itself.
We wanted to design a light atmosphere in a large space, so we created a colorful composition of beautiful traditional Japanese "kumi-himo" (braided cords) and aims to lighten one’s heart through its slow swaying.
The title "Metro" was chosen as it reminded me of the urban subway system.
